Default throttle surge

Just got truck home, when started after work it started and ran awesome for about ten miles. I idled it along for 4 or five miles and shut off. I had an ice pack in lunch pail. I decide to place it on top of Heat-sync cooling fins then proceeded to dump a little cool water over it. Truck started and ran fine for about 7 miles. Pulled into store shut off. When I restated it it throttled up very rapidly to about 2000 rpm, I shut it down restarted and ran fine till got home another 3 miles down road. Sounding like PMD? It had been relocated with heat sync but they installed it on top of intake manifold. Very hot and we've had a few 100 degree days here in Maine lately. if PMD gone how do I know for sure this is it?
