Default 6.5 fuel/water separator

I have located a fuel/water separator on my 2001 Express 2500 right next to the fuel tank. Is this also the fuel filter or is there another filter? I cannot locate a filter other than this one. I understand the filter should be on the passenger side so if there is one there it must be under and behind the battery.
I would rather wait for an answer here before I start taking the battery out.
Thanks

Default Pic of fuel/water separator

Here are 2 pics of the separator. One showing the location and one with the cover pulled back showing the canister.
