starting to sound like the pump isnt reading the timing signal and the timing is way far advanced is where the smoke is coming from

hey unglued, whats your opinion on runnin some fuel system cleaner through? you think it'll help or not worth the time? Right now im at it'd probly be worth it if it works and saves buyin an ip but idk how much they cost for those trucks and what there lifespan is

If it starts to get air in the fuel supply the optical sensor in the i/p flips out. You could try unplugging the optical sensor and seeing how the truck runs.

The pump is around $1000. The life span varies. I know some people that don't get any life out of them and some get a few 100k out of them. The problem with fuel cleaner is it can clean every thing before the injection pump and wash it right down to the optical sensor.

If you bleed the lines and the l/p isn't working while the engine is running it will suck minute amount of air from each fitting along the way and still cause a problem.

I have in the mean time checked the fuel pump mounted on the frame rail and it is working, The Black smoke does not come all the time only when I get on it hard and then it only lasts for a few seconds then I go to no smoke at all. I have also changed the fuel filter. Would a bad or failing ip cause a power loss at all times? I pull a trailer quite a bit and I now have to use another truck because this one falls on it's face even with an empty trailer.

yes it is very possible the i/p is out. Start the truck up and get it to operating temp. Slowly rev the engine to 2000rpm hold it there for a little while then slowly back off of it. It should be able to rev smoothly, hold rpm and return to idle smooth. If it can not there is a good chance the i/p is bad.

Hey guys I did make a typo on the first code...It was meant to be p0236. I am very sorry for that I just scanned it again and got p0236 and p0251. I am fairly confident it is the ip and the waste gate actuator after looking up those two codes. Am I right??

I would say that is a good possibility. The only way I know of to check the ip is like I posted before.
