Default 6.5L TD Driving the Me Nuts...to PMD or Not

So I know the PMD has been beaten beyond death, but here are my symptoms... I'd appreciate your 2cents... Long story short driving from PA to TN truck drives like a dream, driving back stop to fill up (bout half a tank) roughly 20 mins later the truck starts chugging like it's fuel starved... if the rpms are held steady at 2k seems fine, but if you try to accelerate or decelerate chug chug chug... so I find an autozone pull the fuel filter (it was time anyway) fuel looks fine, not cloudy (I know visual is not an accurate test) install new filter bleed air... drive away... 10 miles or so later this game starts again...finally make it home and it seems cleared up.... so I'm still praying bad gas... trip to sams club today (50 miles) all is good... on the way home fun and games chug chug chug though not nearly as bad as before. so I'm thinking OPS, air in the fuel system, or PMD supposedly the IP was replaced before I bought it and the fuel pressure seemed good (no gauge) at the filter. are there any other small things (like relays and such) I need to think about before I start tackling these in order of expense...

the truck started acting up when you fueled it right

you changed the fuel filter and it was fine for a bit then back to chug chug

I think the station you filled at must haqve just got a load of fuel delivered and you filled up and got a ****-ton of sediment with it

I helped a guy with this problem and it took 6 filters to get thru that tank of fuel

you really need a pressure gauge to determine acuratly

okay, so now I've refueled again shouldn't be too much of the "bad" fuel left 1/4 tank at most... so what do I need to do to clear out any sediment that is left?

OPS wouldn't be the problem on OBDII system cause LP run off relay not OPS. OPS only run the LP on WTS the LP taking over buy relay

You can try qt Service Power in tank see if that clear it up

When start act up on you are getting any black smoke out the tail pipe,Check air fliter

Do LP pump buy turn to key run ans open the T-valve at T-stat housing see if you have steady fuel coming out

Also check all ground and clean could be you have loose grounds you have 2 or 3 at right side of motor buy firewall that are ECM grounds and you have ground straps there also right under A/C dryer on the firewall one going to right back of head and other to frame. check ground on IP for PMD, check ground at right battery at right fender

Hope this help

Okay thanks... I checked the air filter when I did the Fuel Filter looked nice and clean (as I expected since it was recently replaced with K&N filter) When it was chugging really bad it was blowing black but now it doesn't seem to be. It's a nice day today so I'm hoping to get out to it and check the grounds. and if my pressure gauge arrives i'll check that too. Would running diesel purge through the fuel filter help at all if it is sediment? I've got the stuff to do it, I just hadn't done it yet (which is why the fuel filter wasn't replaced yet).

No Mods yet wanted to get it up to par before I started playing since it had sat for awhile before I bought it... still going through all the systems (I took the winter off, since it was driving fine). I'll add the vacuum and wastegate to my list... got any suggestions on Mods? My plan was to run bio (homebrew) but I'm not making that leap until I have the truck running straight.

running WVO is not to good idle with 6.5 IP don't like it, i heard guys going thru IP from 6 months to yr

got any suggestions on Mods?
1) start off buy moving PMD to front bumper with heat sink

2) get set gauges

3) get new exhaust with 3" dp to 4" back and cross over pipe

4) turbo master on set boost 10psi ECM and then delete vacuum pump the belt size will be 1 inch shorter

5) get reflash ECM

6) set the pump -1.94

Stock boost 8psi it hit 10psi for sec. with reflash ECM you can turn up to 15psi will be max

7) get 97+ air filter set up

if injectors over 100,000 miles get new one have pop test and set for 2300
