i will give you what little bit of information i know on this. there is a company putting the newer duramax in the old military hummers. i saw this on the show "Inside West Coast Customs" i forget the name. i wanna say predator was in the name. but if they're doing it then yeah it can be done. i'm doing something somewhat similar in my ford now. 6.9 to 7.3 the connectors to the cab arent the same. the transmission input shaft is too small. i already had the cab for the powerstroke though. yes mine started out as a cab change. but anyway you may find a couple things along the way that you didnt consider. what i would do is find this company and do a lot of research on what exactly you'll need. construct a list of all parts and prices as well as tools you'll need that you dont have. then budget a little extra just in case. i will also see if i can find this company for you and i have to say i'm not a chevy guy but its nice to see that its not just me that wants to bring back the older trucks and give them some new life. i hope you follow through with this project and i hope to see this when you complete it.

X2 on what woody35 said

i don't think the dash from 6.5 wood work you going have change over puter and wire harness from 6.5 to dmax not sure what have to be done but do know it lot work

for the other the dmax run inner cooler and there is not room for it so going have run after maket for that or less you do with out A/C

Let put this way it be cheaper buy Dmax then it be doing a sawp that just my 2 cent woth

That not even getting in to the drive train meaning drive shaft all that stuff depened what trans going put behine it
