amount of electricity used to heat block
I started my truck today, first time since getting it. I had to plug in the block warmer in California weather!! Anyway, I am wondering 2 things: First in 40 - 60 degree weather how long does it need to be plugged in??? AND Secondly how much electricity does it use - I guess in kilowats?? Thanxxx

a well functioning 6.2 wont need a block heater in 40-60 degree weather. if you really do need it you need to check your glowplug system to see if it is running up to snuff. for example my 6.5 that has less compression will start in the middle of a IL winter at o degrees without one and will barely make any smoke.
some people run them all night some people run them a few hours. it just depends on what is needed. the longer you run it im sure the shorter it's life will be but there not terribley hard to change. not really sure on electricity usage.
