How much more does the 94 extended cab half ton with the 6.5 weigh vs the extended cab with the regular v8, is it still considered a light truck. Reason why I'm asking is I need tires, do i have to by 1o ply

 

no do not have go with 10 ply i have few friends running P tire on 1500 trucks but it is 2 wheel drive and they don't tow if you going to tow i would myself at least run LT load range D or E tire on my truck run G range but have dully i tow lot WGT

There should also be sticker on the door telling you what size to run

 

6.5 weighs about 300- 400 more pounds than a typical small block V8.

Range D or E depending on how much you tow. I run Toyo A/T Range D on my truck and tow a flat bed with a few tons of hay no problem.

 

so would I be ok if I put 275/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S light truck tires on it

I don't tow anything but my jetski and maybe a boat or trailer with a quad but nothing heavy, this is just my play and hunting rig

 

What tires came on your truck? If it came with range c tires then go for it, but if stock was range d, I would stick with a d range. But that is just me.

Weight wise those tires should work, just won't be able to tow or haul very much.

 

if you are running 17" after market rim you better check see what kind wgt they can handle if you tow lot them after market can't handle wgt and end up cracking

 

I say go with C's and you'll be fine. I've towed HEAVY with my half-ton with P rated 4 plys and never had a problem.... The just wear out FAST. (I've got a 2wheeler so 15" tires is all I can get)

Oh, and I classify Heavy as when you cross the scale with your half-ton that empty weighs 5600 lbs and your gross combined 12,500.... With over 1200 lbs of weight on the gooseneck ball.

That's why I've got the dodge dually now.

 

They aren't aftermarket wheels, they are 17" GMC steel wheels I'm painting black so they should hold the weight, i hope
