96 K3500 Smoke out of Oil inlet, No start
Hello,
I have a 96 K3500 Service truck that I recently bought and it does not start.
It has a 6.5L TD Engine and has 150,000 miles. The truck smokes out of the exhaust when you are turning the starter and acts as if it can start anytime. It has a new starter and Glow plugs. It also has a lot of Blue smoke coming out of the oil inlet which makes me think that a piston could have burned thru.
Any ideas or suggestions what can be the problem before I start tearing the engine apart?
Thanks

Ok have you done OPS and LP test easy way doing that is put 12V right to the LP witch is under side door on the frame once you put 12V to it go to the T-Valve at the T-stat open it and see if fuel coming out
go here do some reading how test and we go from there

oil out inlet try cleaning the CDR with some gas let dry good before putting back on see if that helps

Lp test results
Did the LP test by connecting 12V to it.
Opened the T- valve Fuel started leaking out and pump was making a purring noise.
However, When I turn on the ignition the pump does not make a purring noise but a loud clicking noise.
What else should I check now.
Can it be a timing sensor or the ecm because I think I am getting fuel but it will not start.
Cracked a line on the injector and there was fuel leaking when I turn the ignition.
Tried spraying just a tad bit of ether while cranking the engine and it seems like it slightly floods the enggine and it makes a clanking noise from the engine.
Any ideas?
Thanks

lp test
I tried starting with the lp at 12V no luck but it sounds very promising as if its about to start.
I will try charging the batteries because they seemed a little slugish and starter was turning slow.

Tried starting the engine would not start with 12v at LP.
Lots of smoke but would not start.

have you check for codes yet

Disconnect the optical sensor connector from the injection pump. This is the large square black connector directly on top of the injection pump. Again try to start the truck. If the truck starts and runs, this means that the optical sensor is outputting faulty data preventing the truck from starting. By unplugging the sensor, you put the system into backup mode and the computer relies on information from the crankshaft position sensor. In the very unusual case that both sensors were bad, the truck would not start with the optical sensor disconnected.

You just may want try what piloto2 posted
