Why are my glow plugs short cycling
I had to put a new glow plug relay on due to the old going bad. The job is as simple as it get working on a diesel. The long and short of it is That I am getting very short cycles and the truck is struggling to start in the 15-20 morning temps that we have right now. The old before it went bad did what it was supposd to do. This problem is also intermitent every
10th cycle it works as it should. What is the deal.

The only thing I can think of are the batteries of the relay itself, The old had a short in it that killed my batteries. I jumped the truck and got it running, left it running for about an hour to charge the batteries. They seem ok now but will change them out as funds allow, The winter months are sometimes slow for me. if the batteries don't do it then the unit is going back to carquest to be exchanged.

I'm gonna just run with it for the next week or so, I have a couple big jobs I need to finish before I can do anything with it. the batteries are 8-9 years old now so it might be good to just get them out of there anyway. I'm going to have the alternator tested soon too but it holds 14 volts when its running and drops a bit with the lights and other stuff on like wipers. I think the alt. is still ok. Just frustrating all these little things that are givin me issues at this point, I maintain the truck better that most folks due to it bein my bread and butter
