Not an expert but I did do a fair bit of checking on readers and scan tools and you probably won't like what I found. I know i didn't An obd2 code reader wont do you any good on much of anything since 96 A scan tool with the right software for your brand or brands of vehicles Is the only thing that will do much of anything at all I just bought the AutoEnginuity PC based software and connector. still learning it but I believe it would have saved me over 2 thousand on an IP and PMD when it looks like a bad sensor with the tool( I'll try to post the results) With just the enhanced GM software it was over $450.00 but you are blind without one

Hope it was some help
