At present I have four of these trucks in my fleet and this is the only one with issues. I'm wondering if my fuel heater is working. That will be my next check. This morning it ran rough and lacked power but shortly after it was ok.

So I left the truck out of the holiday weekend and again it runs rough. As stated previously it would sound as if it is running on half the cylinders bellowing out all kinds of smoke. It would smouth out at idle however I have very little response while pressing on the gas pedal. Once it warms up for a few minutes, it purs like a kitten. My fuel heater is working fine as well as the glow plug system. I am also not displaying any codes and my scan tool seems to show everything functional. I suppose the next step is to sample fuel and figure a way to check if my injectors are sticking first thing in the morning. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

Cant you get winter fuel where you are ? Where i live they stop sending summer fuel around november and top up there tanks with the winter fuel.It gets down to -40 and some times - 50 here in january and ive never had an issue with fuel jelling.

We are required to use bio-diesel here so I'm not sure if there is a difference in the summer and winter fuel. I also have three like trucks with the 6.5 as well as other diesels without issues. It gets frustrating because if I don't find the problem first thing in the morning then I have to wait until morning time again while it runs rough and even then I only have about 5 minutes. So I just learned that there still is a difference for bio-diesel and the last time this truck was fueled was November. Winter mix was put in our pumps December so I am going to top off the truck, drive it around for a while and check again in the am. Thanks for pointing out the difference in fuel blends.

yes there diff from summer to winter in bio-fuel one thing is these IP on 6.5 don't last long with bio-fuel

just add some straight diesel and add some Power Services 911 and see what happens

Well I think the fuel may have been the issue. I put 20 gallons of winter blend in it yesterday and this morning at 16 degrees out, it started rough for a few seconds then smoothed out and runs fine. I will check again tomorrow. Thanks again for all you help and suggestions. Happy New Year!
