Fuel minded
"Same block" is right and wrong, with my "wrong" being used for lack of other words. The 6.2/6.5 was designed and produced by Detroit Diesel as a division of GM. This was done mostly in part due to the American public, mechanics, and pure logic rolling up a newspaper and hitting GM on the nose saying "NO, NNNNNO!" for the 5.7 Olds diesel conversion disaster. GM handed it over to DD to produce a more dependable powerplant. No, it's not a Series 60 or a 6V92, but it was still a DD produced and designed engine. The Dirtlymax and 12 valve guys may not like it, but it is our slice of history.

For some reason this site won't let me post a link without saying I need to wait 30 seconds, over and over again. But go to "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Diesel_V8_engine". That's a good summary of our engines' history.
