Default 92' Turbo 6.5... Tips??

I have a 92' Turbo 6.5L Cheyenne 2500 with 2wd and the 4spd/bulldog 1st, reg. cab. 135k miles. I'm new to diesel, but read about these and decided I wanted one. The only thing I have done so far is get it straight piped. I plan on a 4in. turbo back exhuast, injector mod, up the turbo, maxamize cooling and breathing in the truck, and body work. Any suggestions on more power and better milage?? I also heard about a possible borg-warner T-56 trans swap, Is that possible? I'd like to keep the costs within $5,000. Also, would it be good to double up on the stock turbo's or buy a new single setup instead? Thanks for the imput.

for 5k i would get gauges, headstuds, and some high pop injectors for a good baseline. then add exhaust, turn up injection pump, then an a team turbo or hx35. if i did the hx35 i would install an intercooler.

for cooling i would thoroughly clean my rad or get a new one. install a duramax fan making sure the fan clutch kicks in at 210. its still up in the air if dual thermostats provide better cooling then one but i would probably stick with the single setup you got now.

as far as the t-56 if it bolts up to a small block or big block chevy then it will bolt up to a 6.5. probably require some fabbing up but it would be a neat project. anymore questions feel free to ask.

X 2 what Woody35 said

the other thing to add is high out put water pump from 97 and up

If you do 4" exhaust check the cross over pipe . take the cross over off and see if golf ball will roll threw it if replace it

also if you got money left and you want to get wild maybe look into injectables. cant promise engine health though unless you tune it well since this is a idi desel

Mine is before they were electronically controlled, so no tuning for me. I was thinking about Nitrous, but I don't know too much about that. Would the gain in mileage eventually pay itself off or...??

i know yours is mechanical im saying tuning of when you inject the water/meth, propane, or nitrous (which ever you choose) and how much. if you do propane it will eventually pay itself off but it all depends on local prices. if you turn the boost up the water/meth can decrease your intake air temps which will up your power and put less strain on the engine.

Is the Snow Performance Stage 1 boost cooler what i'd be looking for for water/meth injection? And with the A-team turbo, would I have to get a wastegate actuator controller to up the psi to around 20 or will it be there stock?
