Default DTC 36 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Long)

truck info. 94 chevy 3500, 6.5 turbo, F code, automatic, 2wd. engine has 211,000 miles.
DTC 36 - Injection Pulse Width Error (Time Long), this code came up on the diagnostic check. what does it mean? my truck sounds like it is knocking from bottom end when at 1500 or above rpm. would this code have anything to do with that? thanks in advance.

it starts pretty easy cold and very easy warm, and runs great. plenty of power. no stalling or anything. no smoke. i cant tell anything wrong with it. but it does sound like its knocking only when given fuel. not at idle. when i stick my head under the truck, while someone else works the throttle, it sounds like its coming from the oil pan. i have put over 200 miles on it this way with some towing. i am new to diesels, so it may be just the way they sound. i did change engines, so the code may be from the previous one. i cleared the codes and so far the check engine light has not came on.
