93 has a mechanical waste gate and 98 is vacuum. 98 runs a gm 8 turbo which is a slightly better flowing turbo. 93 makes about 3 psi or somewhere around there stock but can be improved and 98 is somewhere around 8-10. I would make sure the vacuum actuator on the waste gate is not bad or put a mechanical one on it before I changed to the older turbo. But as far as bolting on and working it will.

you can try it. You have to tie it up towards the actuator. When it goes over 12-14psi mot exactly sure but somewhere around there it will defuel.

dont tow with it if you dont have gauges. first hill you come across you will hit 14 psi and defuel. hopefully it wont spike any higher than that so you dont blow a headgasket

You might be able to switch the wastegate out but 93 runs horizontal and 98 runs vertical. I don't know if they will interchange or not. I personally would switch to mechanical.

If the truck doesn't have egr you can just remove the vacuum pump and get a shorter belt.
