Default My New Truck -86 Chevy K30 M1008

Hey guys just picked up this 86 M1008 last weekend. Im a Cummins guy but lately ive been wanting a non-turbo diesel and I wasnt about to buy a Ford. So since I already have Deuce n a Half, I might as well get another Army truck. Its in pretty good shape. Im gonna repaint it and do a couple mods to it.

Cool truck I love the old cucv. Don't know if this is your first 6.2. They are not the fastest or most powerful engine they where never meant to be. Just don't go into it thinking you can turn it into a cummins it will never happen. The one thing nice about them is they do what they where designed to do and do it well thats fuel mileage. My 82 6.2 on 35's and 4.10 gears gets mid to high 20's thats one reason I cant get rid of it. Good luck and have fun with it.

nice looking truck those things are tough as hell and come with a offroaders dream drivetrain. just to let you know most things on a 6.5 will bolt on to that 6.2 so things like turbo manifolds and intakes will fit.

6.5 injectors fit? Is it worth it?

6.5 injectors will fit. The only year that is different is 82 6.2 they had coarse thread injectors. The injector is taller on the 6.2 so line tweaking will be needed. I would not go to a 6.5 injector you should have a j code engine and it should have good injectors in it. I don't think you would notice a difference in injectors because the biggest difference between the 6.2 and 6.5 is the 6.2 has a smaller pre-chamber exit. If I was to do any thing to it I would turbo it and turn the db2 pump up a little.
