Default Quiet Muffler?

so i got my exhaust system today my dad had surprised me with it but he thought i could use the stock muffler so he ordered me a straight pipe. me being 16 and since he payed for all of it he wanted the same noise level as stock.

so he wanted me to find a cheap muffler. so i go on to summit racing and i find a dynomax racing bullet muffler. straight thru design and very little muffling as far as i can tell. i tryed to tell him its going to be loud but he wouldnt listen.he isnt very educated in the world of diesels or autootive in general. so i guess im going to get a loud truck after all until he bites the bullet and gets a expensive muffler because he is sick of it being too loud.

Drop the pipe off at the down pipe there plenty loud then or just run the strait pipe with no muffler thats how all mine are now one has it out the back and the other has it just behind the cab. I like the just behind the cab the best. Make it as loud as you want and enjoy it. My 98 isn't going to be able to be like that because once you do the wife and kid and going on a long trip and your exhaust is waking the baby crap you give in and tone it back to a reasonable level. Does your truck have the cat on it still?

I don't know if it helps but I have a magnaflow 24" muffler on my 07 dodge and it's fairly quiet.

Tell him a muffler cost more than no muffler. I never had to go through that growing up when I was 17 my dad helped me build a 550-600 horse trans am that rattled every window in there house at night and my mom loved it said it let her now I was home at night.

let me know how it installs and how the new muffler sounds. If its a flow through muffler it will still be loud.
