Looking at a truck
looking at a truck with current specs
1996 Chevrolet K3500 extended cab dually with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel. Really nice truck but does have a few paint chips and rust spots. Has a 4inch exhaust,turbomaster,#9resisitor,fsd relocated with heatsync,K&N cold air intake, new fuel pump, new glow plug controller, new fuel filter, new fuel pump relay. Also has a gooseneck hookup and a reese hitch hookup. Trailer brakes are also on the truck. Asking $6000 obo
Owner think the start problem is the FSD box. The little black box that is usually on the side of the injection pump. Says new one will cost like 300
i dont know anything about these diesels...... good? bad? stay away?

well the are ok for diesel motors, but definitely not even close to the best. i didnt like the 6.5l at all thats why i replaced the 6.5l for a cummins in my truck. id recommend getting a cummins or a powerstroke 7.3l for the same price range. but to each their own you may like it. im a die hard chevy guy thats why i couldnt just get rid of my truck i just swapped motors. but if i were buying a truck fresh off the bat, i would not buy a 6.5l. just my 2 cents

$6000 dollars sounds a little high for a 96 to me. The 6.5 have some corks but are a good engine if you know how to fix the problems. The 6.5 is not the most powerful diesel built but but if you are going to drive it mostly and pull a trailer every now and then there fine. I have 3 of them right now and the one I drive most of the time is a 95 3/4ton 4x4 with 300,000 hard miles on it I grossly over load it on a regular basis and tow between 13,000 and 20,000 pounds on a trailer with it regularly and very seldom do I ever work on it. Just don't hold them to the floor for extended time will hauling a heavy load keep your eye on the temp. and back off them if they start getting hot. Don't use cheep parts on them or try turning a stock engine into something it was never meant to be and you should be fine.
