Default 95 2500 SQUEELS n runs crappy

I am a Honda/ase cert auto tech who is not sharp in the diesel area. My problem is: chev 95 2500, hard start must push throttle aprox 50% and crank for 10 to 15 seconds b4 fire up. When firing up it runs HELLA rough and squeels like a hundred cats being skinned alive, then stalls. My glow plug wires were cracked n half melted n my glow plugs were all in horrid shape. In fact 1 of the glow plugs I removed was missing half of itself, normal?I replaced all 8 glow plugs in replaced all 8 gp wires including soldered connections and heat resistant looming. Again I have the same problem. I decided to remove the serp belt as to eliminate the possible squeel from from accessories and start again, no change. I was able to test compression on 6 of 8 cyl n all seems ok. I have no cracked rockers. Should I be looking at fuel delivery? wut kind of preasure do I need to be in spec? I checked for preasure at the t handle on top front of engine with key set on accy power and got 0 preasure. I also checked preasure while cranking and got 0. How exactly does the fuel delivery system operate on this vehicle? Any help would be a godsend!!!!

0 pressure is not good. check to see lift pump is working. look for restrictions throughout fuel lines and blow them out. there is a strainer sock in the fuel tank so see if thats plugged.

have you checked the glowplug controller. its located on the far right corner of the engine and is grounded to the cylinder. these commonly go bad and do not send power to all the gp wires. this is happening to my truck right now.

takes a minute for my truck with my foot all the way to floor to fire on cylinders. make sure those wires you are rated for the type of heat and current those gp wires get. that broken glowplug hit the piston and im sure scracthed the combustion chamber a little. shouldnt of damage anything too much.

ive heard worn injectors cause a 6.5 to start knocking but not squeeling so its probably not that. any chance the noise is coming from the transmission like the torque converter or flexplate? any codes?

Default thx man

thank everyone for their direction. another thing has occered to me. I have heard of a fella whose 6.5 squelched like hell due to ring noise. since i have confirmed the lack of fuel preassure, it makes sense that the rings may b the culprit of the noise due to lak of ring lubrication that is due to lack of fuel. I feel on the right track n thx agn!!!!!!

oil provides lubrication for the rings not fuel at least i dont think so. i think you have a fuel system problem but the squeecing sound is not fuel related

I been a bit slow goin but heres where Im at now: I replaced the fuel pump located at the inside frame rail under the driver door. its running better now but still has a miss as well as a much smaller squeel, but a squeel none the less. The squeel sounds like it could be related to a stroking piston however I c your point. being a gasoline oriented mechanic Ive never run into a squelching piston! My glows are all new and wired with 10.5 vdc being delivered to them all. I still have no preasure to the t handle at the front of the engine.I may be going bakwards but I removed the fuel filter and inspected inside the housing. Upon inspection I found wut I consider a lot of sediment. Perhaps 2 tablespoons with 15% being metal particals. The filter itself does not appear even close to dirty. I cleaned out the filter housing and re assembled. I cranked it over for 7-11 seconds. Then I removed the filter from the housing once more. It appears as if the fuel filter housing was only about 20% full with fuel. Is this normal? Logic sez there should be a bit more fuel there, but not everything runs according to logic. My first instict is to drop the tank, check the sock and clean out the fuel lines. What do you folks think?

get all the crap out of the fuel system period. that eliminates future problems and helps you diagnose current problems better. you should still being getting pressure at the t-handle if the lift pump is working. make sure the lift pump is actually doing its job. also just because it is making noise doesnt mean its working. have you checked the bearings?

we'l do on the fuel sysyem clean out. what is the best way to test the lift pump? If I have no preasure at the t handle and my fuel system is clean is the lift pump a safe bet?? Should I remove it to chek the bearings? Thx for ur help and patients woody. I am convinced u actually know what ur talkin about!!!!

hook up 12 volts to it and see if it flows fuel. the lift pump bearings i wasnt talking about lift pump bearings im talking about the bearings on the engine for the squeeling noise. see if the truck will idle after you cleaned the fuel system.
