I blew an oil cooler line driving to Leonard Wood last year and the engine locked up. I was advised to dump PB Balster in the glowplug holes to break it free. The Army dont pay a Staff Seargent alot and I love my truck WAY more than my Dura Junk. Can anyone help...I have NO money. By the way the Dura Junk is leaking coolant from around the water pump...whats with that?

 

your engine is mosy likely trashed. thats why i got aftermarket stainless steel lines that screw into the block and oil cooler so this diesnt occur. the stock lines are complete junk so i wold not relplace with thoses.

 

even if you get it unlocked it probably wont just continue to run again.

you probably toasted all your bearings at the minimum, and hopefully you didnt do any head damage or ring damage or any of that

 

i would be looking for a replacement engine. remember all 1982-2000 6.2 and 6.5 engines will work. all you need is to swap your current stuff on to the "new" engine and it will work minus a few details specific to certain engine years. as far as your dmax you probably need to replace some seals or something around the water pump. you need to post that in the right section though.

 

I have a "in" on a 6.5 out of a HMMWV. I think those lines bolt on; however I think those are center mount turbos.

 

if you get the humvee 6.5 you will have to swap heads and intake manifold from your old engine on to the new one if you want a side mount

 

Since this is the same question I have I will ask it here. I am going down the same road with my truck by put a engine out of a HMMWV and want to know how different the two are. I know the head angle to the intake is different but how different is it? Could the intake be milled at the different angle or would a adapto kit need to be made. I own a machine shop with CNC's so it most likely be a big deal but is there any other big differences.

 

your best bet is just going to just swap some truck heads and intake over on to the humvee engine. a lot less headaches. as far as the differences, yes there can be some but it depends on the year. newer humvee engines are stronger than our truck 6.5s and have a different oil pan. but everything is universal so your parts will fit on a new humvee engine. kinda like a chevy smallblock v-8s from 1956 to before they changed to vortec heads all have parts they will bolt on to each other and there universal too.

 

i feel your pain, i lost the oil line running down the highway too. i thought i got it shut down in time, but i got it started back up after $110 tow bill. filled it with $50 in new oil, and it sounded great for 5 minutes, until it warmed up, then the dreaded rod knock i could hear inside the house from 100 yards away. i have been told to find a 6.2J block, they are much srtonger and can be found easier "school buses". good luck on yours, by the way im new to this site so hi everybody.
