Default 4L80E help

Got a buddy with a 94 2500 6.5 truck. The thing lost reverse and im lookin for suggestions on what the most probable cause would be so i can give him a more accurate estimate on the cost of the parts to fix it. the thing still drives forward and shifts through the gears on its own so it dont seem to be a valve body problem. could a broken rear band cause this? would it still have all forward gears? any help apreciated.

so the truck is at the shop now and i realized it doesnt have a neutral. u can put the lever in neutral, reverse or even park and it still tries to go forward. if park its like u got it in gear and are holdin the brakes. it only revs till it hits the converter. so i took the valve body down thinkin i might get lucky and it would be a stuck spool or somethin. but there wasnt. so now its time to pull the whole thing i guess. must have a fried clutch pack or somethin. anyone else have any suggestions?
