93 6.5TD stalling after startup
I have a 93 K3500. I rarely drive the truck (mostly hunting and snow plowing) but I have had two problems with it lately and now I have a third problem. The first problem has been a fuel leak. I believe the tank is leaking because it slowly drips even when not running. I ran the truck until it was almost empty because the tank appears to leak until the tank is almost empty (that was about three weeks ago and the truck ran great). The other problem has been weak batteries. I pulled the batteries and gave them a 30hr 2 Amp charge. They were a little weak but I put them in the truck to see if it would start up. I had the truck plugged in for about 1 hour and after 1 glow plug cycle, the truck started right up. About 15-20 seconds later, it seemed to miss real bad, and then it stalled. My first thought was that the tank dripped completely empty and that the truck was out of fuel. I put about 3 gallons of fuel in the tank and tried to start the truck again......no luck. I pulled the turbo cover off and I cracked open the filter bleeder and tried it again. The truck did start and again it ran good for about 15-20 seconds, then began to run real rough and missing and it shuts off. I have probably done this about 10 times now hoping it would clean up, but no luck it keeps shutting off after about 15-20 seconds and I should also add that once it shuts off, it starts very hard, in fact I have been putting my foot on the throttle which seems to help get it started and I have to turn it over 10-15 seconds before it starts. I am picking up new batteries tomorrow and I found a new tank from our local auto parts store. I will need to order the tank and in the mean time, a major winter storm is coming in and I would like to get the truck running so that I can plow with it. Do you think the stalling is related to the tank leak? Is there a chance that the fuel system needs additional bleeding? I would guess the truck has a computer or some sort of ECM, could having batteries out of the truck for an extended amount of time require the electronics to be reprogrammed (I know the 93 has a mechanical pump but not sure if there are other components dependant on the ECM). Any suggestions how to fix the problem of the truck stalling, re-starting hard and then stalling again?

Thanks guys. I did replace the fuel filter and still doing the same. I did find wetness (fuel) around the lift pump. I think that may be the problem. I will replace the lift pump and respond after that.

Another question, from what I have read, the lift pump connects to the Oil Pressure Switch. When replacing the lift pump, should I also replace the OPS at the same time?

It tested that the lift pump was getting power. It was not. I then replaced the Oil Pressure Switch and retested. Lift pump was then getting power. The truck did start but I tested that the lfit pump was pumping and it was not. I replaced the lift pump too and now the truck is running great.......Smoke'm if you got 'em!!!!
Thanks for the suggestions.
