Default 93 K3500 start up

In the mornings when I go out to start my truck, it starts out fairly easy but runs kind-of rough and smokes very very thick white-ish smoke. After about 10 mins or so, it clears up and is fine. I did notice the other day when it was clearing up but I was watching the tail pipe and it would smoke alittle and then it would blow clear for a second and then smoke again and then clear etc etc. It also does it during the day also if it sits for a few hours but not near as bad as the mornings after sitting overnight. Its obviously a injection pump or injector(s) not right but dont know where to start. I have turned the pump up awhile back if that makes a difference. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

once it starts up press the accerlator and see if it clears up. if it does then it is not running on all cylinders when it starts. also check coolant level and see how the glowplugs are working. its possible the injectors are leaking and washing the injectors down and when you start you are burning unatomized diesel

Sounds injector related also. In which case you need to have the pump overhauled the same time.

Yea mine does the same on cold starts. You can see when the glow plugs kick in and kicj out. Usually does this for 15-20 seconds. Has original glow plugs and injectors and they are due for a change. Was thinkin of SSDiesels fuel mizer injectors for the change out.

dont get injectors from ss diesel supply. there just going to leak. go to rock auto and get some genunine bosch injectors. they should be around $350

From what I heard, they're just as bad. If you want real good injectors, expect to pay $400-$500 for the 8 of them. You also need to have the injection pump rebuilt at the same time. Otherwise the higher pop off pressure needed to fire the injectors is going to wipe out the pump.
