the truck that I am having trouble with is a basic work truck no cruise. will i need a different thermostat housing. I had planned on getting a new throttle cable and robbing a pedal from an old truck.I am looking for a set of injector lines, have already located a 6.2 pump to take to pump shop. what will be needed to set the timing after i get it running. If anyone knows of anything i am not thinking about please let me know. I am really looking forward to making my truck dependable again. Thanks for your help.

you will need to install a tdc indicator brackett down by the harmonic bal and have it set to no 1 cyl. then to set the timing must have one of the old style diesel timing light that reads line pressure on no 1 cyl I belive it should be set to 0. I'm still having problems locating one of these timing lights. Right now i have it set according to sound and feel and it runs great.

im trying to come up witha kit for this... i understand that 96 3500 is the basterdchild of these trucks. but from what i have experinced that even when swapped from elc-mech ip. and all the dots are lined up and you got it running that there is a massive difference in performance and ecomony... cuz i did this a couple years back to test a engine on a bench. not for permanent use. any ideas?

so i just got off the phone and i guess there is not a actuall after market kit for this swapp... just as anyhting... its always possible. cant is not in my vocab.

there is a book like i posted earlier so go read it and that is basically the part of the kit you need. its not a super hard swap just expensive

I used to get about 18 mpg on the road with the elec pump with the mech pump
I'm getting about 17.5 engine still not broke in yet. started at about 14 mpg 5,000
miles later 17.5 just keeps getting better?

finished my conversion, very pleased with it . pump came from an 88 6.2,lines did also.orde, red a throttle cable for same truck, salvaged pedal, the only piece I had to fabricate was cutting the neck on the thermostat housing and moving it to clear bracket on throttle cable. I cut the wire on the pump and plugged back into harness using pink wire to power the pump. I'm fairly familiar with the swap now . let me know if you have any more questions.
