Default Priming fuel system help 1982 6.2

Hi everyone i just got my first Diesel, its a 1982 1/2ton 6.2 and i love it. Since i just got it i wanted to get everything in shape and change filters...well i put in the new fuel filter(primary) and filled it with diesel...but i must still have air in the line...because it wont start. Please help with the bleeding process....pictures also help a lot....im not familiar with anthing like this...please help me! Thanks

Next time you log in I guess, this is how you prime the system.

Loose the line on the secondary filter (behind the intake bridge), then turn the engine over, a few seconds at a time, 6 times. Look and see if there is a clear stream of fuel or airated fuel. If it has air, turn the engine over a few more times. If it's a clear stream, tighten the fuel line back up.
(4)Crank the engine over again a few seconds, stop and crack open an injector line. Repeat steps 4 then crack open a different line. Keep doing this until a clear stream of fuel runs out the lines, then you should be ready to hit er with the glow plugs.

ok cool...so on the injector...im cracking open the line that is metal...the center one right? what are the rubber lines goingfrom injector to injector? so just wnat to crack the thing openand wait till fuel comes out or should i pull it off all of the way? thanks for your help!!!!

The rubber lines are fuel return hoses. Just crack the end of the metal line open, kinda hard to get it all the way off...

The batter has to be fully charged in order to pump the fuel correctly...right? i had to get a charger because my battery died within a few cranks...got fuel flwoing out of the seccondary fuel filter out line....now i need to get fuel to the injectors but the motor is not cranking fast enough....so i got a battery charger....lets see what happens(crosses fingers) thanks guys for your guidence.

Keep the transmission out of overdrive

why is that? How do i go about doing that? Keep it on the third gear?

thats if you have a 700R4 im pretty sure. but in 82 i thought they had turbo 400s which have no overdrive

it has an Overdrive...whats wrong with being in the overdrive gear?

what tranny is it? well sometimes with the torque of the diesel it can damage the tranny while in overdrive
