would the PMD cause the problem with the fuel gauge? i wouldn't think it could but then again i don't know jack about these trucks

Pmd wouldnt cause that issue, check all grounds. WHen i turn my key to start it goes to full but once it starts and is running it goes where ever the fuel is..

there is a ground next to fuel tank. you should clean that for the fuel gauge
