6.5L DEAD replace with 6.2L?
I have a 1998 C3500 with the 6.5L detroit diesel and the engine is officially gone off to a better place... I was wondering if it was possible to put a 1992 6.2L in this vehicle... I realize mechanically they will line up but I wonder what sort of electronic issues I am going to run into?

yeah it will work fine. and to second what fastcr said your 6.5 is not detroit. Detroit Diesel helped Gm to desighn the 6.2 but thats it. same thing happened to the duramax. Isuzu helped GM deighn the LB7 but after that they didnt help anymore. your 6.5 is a detroit diesel as much as a LMM duramax is an Isuzu.

Swap everything over to you 6.2 from your 6.5. The lines will work, and i believe your injectors will too. The manifolds will all bolt right up. So basically you will be taking everything off of your 6.5 down to the block and heads, and do the same with the 6.2, and then put all the stuff off the 6.5 on the 6.2. Cheaper way of getting a diesel chevy back on the road. I happened to find a deal on a 6.5 with 90k on it. But its all about the deal you get....

depends on vintage of the 6.2, if a early "red block" 6.2 injectors won't swap as those are coarse thread, also I don't believe 6.2 injectors will flow enough for best turbo feeding, needs to be 6.5 injectors for max return on the project.
Least expensive way to get on back of road is to buy a complete vehicle, and part out the stuff you don't need, you can get complete vehicle some time cheaper than what some folks want for just an engine.
