CRAZY STARTER PROB -MAKIN ME NUTS!!
I have a 1994 Chevy K2500 with a 6.5 turbo that has got me stumped. I had changed the fuel, air, and oil filters in this truck and the next day the wife needed to go to the store wbout 9 miles from the house. the truck ran fine to the store. She then called me to say that it wouldn't start. I asked all the normal questions about did you do this and that and she said yes so we called a tow truck to bring it home. This truck has a remote start on it also. The problem is when you turn the key on and wait for the glow plug lite to go off and try to crank it there is nothing, nada, zilch. No starter engagement at all. I have checked fuses, power to the starter itself, wiring. If anybody has anything please relieve my insanity.
Thanks Pap & WildBill for the info. I have gone through all the checks from the ignition switch to the starter and found that it was the starter after all. Changed it and back on the road. Thanks for lookin at my post.
What was your voltage at the purple wire at the starter, when cranking??
The alarm (starter interupt) could give you a voltage drop causing the starter to not enguage. A new starter, being new, will make it work just fine, but later, it won't be fine. Seen it too many times, just ask'n.
