Default 1993 6.5 Turbo Fuel Probem?

I have a 93 6.5 Chevy that seems like it has a fuel problem. At first it would lose power then just die. So I replaced the fuel cap and that helped alot. Now it just loses power. Its getting better and I wanna say it was just bad fuel because every tank I run through it it seems to get better and better. Im just looking at the other alternitives just in case.

Did you check fuel supply to the Injection pump?

Here is my delima(spelling).
When it runs it runs good. The more fuel I run through it the better it runs. its when it gets below a half tank that I have problems. I filled it up the other day and took my daughter back to her moms. We met in Casper and thats like 125 miles from here. It ran fine the entire trip. But when it wants to be stupid it just does. I shut it off for 5 minutes and its fine till it wants to be stupid again. Its my first Diesel. I love it and now hate it at the same time.

Do you have the mechanical or electronic Injection pump? It sounds like it may have a weak supply pump. The injection pump needs 3-5psi inlet pressure.

Im not sure what pump it has. From all the reading I have done the 93 is all mechanical and 94 and up is all electric but I may be wrong. Im thinking that tomorrow is my birthday and for no more than what I have in it this will be a nice trade on a Cummins or Power Stroke.

Well the problem is still there. I got almost 2 tanks of fuel thru it without out a problem at all. Then today we were coyote hunting and it did it again. Gets below half a tank and loses power. Cant get the engine over 1700 RPM's. It wont move out of its own way. Shut it off and restarted. Ran like a champ. I cant figure this one out.
