ok heres the deal i'm keeping the 6.2 in the truck no swap for me i don;t have time, but i do want to get a transmission with an over drive that th400 is no good for highway driving. The truck also has the NP205 transfer case. So waht are my options for a change? i would appreciate any advice?

700R4 is the next step up. Basically a 3 spd w/ OD. Only thing is, they don't like towing in OD or driving around town in OD. Burn up fairly quick.

Might be able to adapt it's own transmission cooler. That way you can bypass the one in the radiator which will help keep temps cooler.

ok so i have to find a 4l80e that came out of a chevy or gmc truck with a big block and was 4 wheel drive. and i saw a complete manuel valve body on ebay for a 4l80e that would let you do away with the computer, so that takes care of the electronics problem.

so it will bolt to the motor and work on that end correct? what about making the np205 work properly. see right now the truck has a solid rear drive shaft and i would like to keep it that way if i can't bolt the tranny to the t-case i would have to run it divorced, which A. i don't know how to run it divorced and B. i don't think i would be able to keep my solid drive shaft.

Should still be the same bolt pattern where it meets the transmission. Things your going to have to watch for is total length and the size of the output yoke. Might be a different size u-joint
