Default 83 6.2 A Lot Of Black Smoke And No Power....

I finally got my 83 6.2 running after a lot of issues. Once I took it on the road it smokes really bad (black) and is pretty well gutless... even more so than what it should be.

I never touched the pump and the previous owner coudlnt remember.... but the motor was re-built not too far in the past.

any ideas or ways to fix?

Thanks
Ian

Sounds like the return line is plugged or the solenoid that opens the check is bad. If air goes through the return line real easy, then the check solenoid is bad. Remove the check and break the end off so you can remove the ball and spring. You can drive around without any problems, but you can't let it sit for extended periods of time cause fuel will get siphoned out of the pump and cause hard starts and premature failure of the injection pump.
