P2016 Code- SES Light On Any Sugestions
CORRECTION --P0216 (Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction).
I have a 1996 Chevy K3500 with a ton of new parts. Recently the check engine light code came on showing only one code--P0216 (Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction). In the past few months i have replaced the water pump, injectors, valve cover gasket, PMD and relocated to the fender, glow plugs, rebuilt transmission and last but most importantly the injection pump. When i replaced and relocated the PMD I also installed a #9 resistor. I have been working on the truck off and on for the past few months and the code just showed up. I started back tracing my steps, removed the # 9 resistor and reset the SES light. It seems to be electrical. The code comes up after the 2nd key cycle. I reset the SES, go for a a short drive and then turn the truck off. Immediately crank the truck up and the SES comes on. I am stumped any suggestions will help. i have been visiting different forums looking for other peoples answers. However, the one difference in my truck is that my truck seems to crank and drive fine. I dont get any stalling or rough idle. the biggest problem i get is a little black smoke when the truck is under a heavy load. So there is obliviously some problems with fuel delivery. One other thing to add is a did have a fuel leak between one of the injector rails and the pump. I added a little thread tape to the threads on the adapter coming out of the pump and the leak was fixed.
