swapping pump

Josh I think you need to swap injector lines as well if you don't have a set of those, are you going with a OBD-I or OBD-II computer to run it, if OBD-II you want a pre 97 PCM or you will have to get all the theft deterrent modules as well , otherwise you won't be able to "teach" the PCM and it won't run.

You'd be surprised how much more fun you'll have with a better flowing turbo, I have a project in back of my mind of swapping the 4.3L gasser out of my 90 C1500 SWB with 5-spd GETRG manual and 3:08 rear, with my "spare" 6.5TD. Won't pull as much as my 98 K1500 with 4L80 & 3:73s, but I'll bet it will be zippy and looking at 24+ mpg as my 98 C1500 burb with 6.5 gets 22-24 mpg with the 3:42 rear on higway.

Just to recap, going from mechanical pump to electronic pump is a terriable pain in the ***. parts needed: Front cover, balancer, timing set, water crossover coolant temp sensor, pump, pump harness, injector lines, fuel filter housing, computer, pmd, throttle pedal assembly, interior and exterior harness, turbo master w/tune (or vac pump, mount, vac solenoid, stock tune), and a ton TON of free time for wiring. Thankfully i had everything on site from a donor truck but im running out of patience. most of it assembled just doing wiring at this point and the pump, lines, cover, everything just bolts right up. while im here i am Also going to take off the down pipe, flip the turbo outlet upside down, and run the exhaust up through the hood. Truck is going to be mostly raced, bogged, and sled pulled with so im not particularly interested in opinions on legality. long story short just rebuild your mechanical pump
