Default Hard to crank motor with new bearings and rings

So it seems I have made a mistake and let someone else do my wrenching for me thinking they actually knew what they were doing. Well here is my problem. With the motor now in the truck after putting new bearings, rings, gaskets and seals, and timing chain, the started makes a single click as it hits the flexplate but does no more. I've pulled the 6 easy plugs to get to but can't really get to cylinders 6 and 8 with the exhaust on.
This motor is fairly hard to turn over with a standard half inch ratchet and socket. I've never tried turning it without plugs in with new internals so I'm not sure what resistance I should be looking at. Either way I think it's binding somewhere.
Now for the record this guy that put it together for me builds race motors but only sbc. He said the plastigauge was right on for all mains and rods.
Do you guys know of anything else that might cause this problem and would it possibly be that he might have torqued them too much?

What condition are the batteries? You must have 2 good batteries with 750 CCA's clean and check all grounds especially the one on the rear passenger side head and I have seen where grease and dirt between the stater and engine block has been the cause of a slow starting or dragging engine, take the inner fender off on the passenger side this give you all kinds of room when working on that side of the truck.
And these engines make more compression than 2 average SBC's put together.

I know you are sweating!

If you can turn the engine over by hand several revolutions then nothing is "binding".

I would make sure both batteries have a full charge, all your battery cables are connected properly (grounds especially), and then check the starter.

Hi I have built 4 off these motors now you should keep oiling and turning whiles building engine
They will be tightish you need a good battery booster extra battery's from start to get it to turn over bleed fuel from pump etc
