Default 96 6.5 td no power/rpm's

I just replaced the chinese pmd that I installed with a relocation kit last january thinking it was the issue but it didn't help. It starts and idles fine but the rpm's quickly drop off when I rev it up and there's tons of blue smoke. There's fuel from the T handle bleed valve even when I try to accelerate, but again, it just bogs down. The fuel filter's clean the truck only has 160,000 km on it, the turbo sounds great. Bad fuel maybe, does fuel and water separate in a glass jar like it will with gas? any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean there's fuel from the bleed valve when you try to accelerate?

I opened the T valve to determine if there was a fuel deficiency problem but there doesn't seem to be.

You should have a solid flow of fuel. I mean, it isn't going to spray like a water hose, but if it is a slow like you are barely pouring water out of a cup then you got a flow problem.

It should fill up a red solo cup in less than 30 seconds.

I tried your test and it filled a solo cup in about 20 seconds. I don't know if bad fuel would cause the smoking described, but I'm starting to wonder if that might be the case.

When is the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

They don't have to look filthy in order to restrict flow enough to cause problems.

You might end up having to install a fuel pressure gauge, preferably after the fuel filter manager.

Blue smoke usually means oil is being burned. Either the pistons rings are shot, or the PCV valve is malfunctioning and allowing an excessive amount of oil in the intake tract.

Thanks for getting back. The fuel filter is new, the truck has about 160,000 km's or less than 100,000 miles so I'd be surprised if it was internal especially due the frequent oil and filter changes and light duty use it gets. Re the pcv, I assume you're referring to the cdr valve and it's a good point that I'll try and check into.
