Default pmd box getting really hot after 5 min of idling

98 6.5l turbo and i relocated the pmd box to behind the front bumper and it worked great for about 2 years then it went bad with no symptoms. i just replaced it with a new one i have the #9 resistor in it the burb is bone stock. the injectors were replaced not to long ago. i put the new pmd on and let it hang and it started and ran like normal for 5 min then i shut it off and went to install the pmd and it was to hot to touch. i no they get warm but not that hot. so i m wondering what may cause this. the pump inline was replaces a couple months ago. didnt no if any one had this problem before. any help would be nice.

you say "let it hang?"

it needs to be on a heatsink or it will burn up pretty fast.

Default let it hang

Yes I just let it hang so the at if it wasn't the problem then I wouldn't have to amount it it was no where near the engine I normally have it on a heat sink but dosen t seem right to be that hot when just idling

I'm no pmd expert but I believe it is made of transistors, the engine speed should have no or little effect on pmd temp.
Trust me, it needs to be on a heat sink all the time. Idle or full throttle.

You still need to put it on a heatsink.
