I don't think the trans is bad.

I bet the temp sensor just failed, it happens.

fluid was burnt where is the temp senor located at?

Yes the IP is the injection pump 1994 was the oddball IP other than that there is no difference.

since you are swapping trans, mite be a good time to also swap Tq converter whatever burnt up trans didn't do converter any favors, you could maybe flush it and make it live but you'll be kicking yourself in the butt if you swap trans only now and lose the converter that was flushed only.

For my time/money I'd refresh them both now.
