I have both a 7.3 and 6.5. I can tow tow boats or haul yards of rock with the 6.5 (my baby BTW). If you are only doing heavy work once and a while the 6.5 is a great engine. Especially if you are looking for a commuter the rest of the time. But if you are running a concrete business, constantly towing excavators or worse I would run with the 7.3.

Just yesterday I took Baby up a long steep hill with a yard of rock and she got up their just fine temp was 210 and a prius passed me (just joking about the prius). I have taken the 7.3 up the same hill with 2 yards of dirt and she showed no signs of struggle.

Just curious truck needs a few things. Needs injectors. Came with a stock set. Radiator leaks got another one used to put in. Its rated 200hp stock, is another 100hp feasible without tearing down the motor

There is no way to get the power you are looking for from a 6.5 and have it live.

6.5's are a light duty diesel built for economy.

the 7.3,5.9 and 6.6 are all medium duty diesels and the 6.5 should not be compared to them ever.

My idea was since I was replacing the injectors and the exhaust if it would be a good platform for power and start building it up. I'm just gonna put stock injectors in it and run it

Just for those who like HP #'s-the 6.5TD compares to some of the Volkswagen 2.0l Turbo diesels.

The 2015 VW passat kicks the 6.5's butt in HPP and is not far off in torque.
