Need help! 6.5L flywheel

To make a long story short I recently purchased at 1993 Chevy 3500 single wheel ton with the 6.5 and 5 speed trans and 169,358 miles. I was told it had a clutch put in 20 thousand miles ago but something happened to it so it needed another. After removing the trans and finding the center busted out of the clutch we noticed the factory Dual-Mass flywheel was bad. I've seen the solid flywheel conversion kits and I've also seen new dual mass units. My question is will a solid flywheel kit bolt right up without changing anything? Or is there more involved then just bolting one right up? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Get a single mass flywheel be done with it that is what I have done to mine with no problems in 2 plus years since installing it.

yes, the single mass will bolt directly in place of the dual mass. with a matching clutch and pressure plate, you'll be good as golden

Thanks for the help guys. After talking to a family friend that works at the parts store he told me he used the solid flywheel conversion kit and really liked it. So that's what I ended up installing. Truck runs and drives great!

Thanks Mayhem. Is there any gain from doing this? Louder whistle or anything?

Stock GM turbos don't whistle period.but GM only put them snorkels on 93-early 94 mine seems to have a little growl now without it and it is nothing more than a choke point for the incoming air,It may have been removed already on your truck,I got my truck from the original owner who only had GM service the truck until about 3 years ago when Chevrolet here said they would not work on it no more,it needed a IP it now has a marine pump and injectors in it and the single mass flywheel and runs pretty damn good I just would not try and pull a load at highway speeds due to the truck having a 4.56 gear under it 70mph with no load = 3000 RPMs.

I'm planning on pulling it into the shop this weekend and looking into the snorkel.
One more question. My truck has sat for about 2 years. It fires right up and runs great and also idles fine. Sometimes it will white smoke some and other times it won't. It usually does it the first time you start it everyday and then dosent do it any more when you start it. It did have half a tank of diesel, I'm sure it's also off road diesel. Could the old diesel be making it smoke? Everyone's told me that's what's causing it but I'd like to have someone that has one of these trucks opinion.

Also here's a pic of the truck.

Probably injectors need overhauled or a few glow plugs aren't working or both, low compression can also be a factor.

ROT for injectors is replace/rebuild every 100,000 miles-Bosch,Sranadyne or Delphi nozzles only.
