Default 2000 6.5td van and CT. emissions and biodiesel.

I have been a long time lurker and decided it was time to post up. This may be a long first post so bear with me.

I have a 2000 chevy 6.5td 14' box van 10,000 gvw. I have been failing CT. emissions since last April. I have replaced the injectors with new from napa, had the injection pump checked, changed the turbo, the vacuum pump works great and the waste gate works like it should, changed the oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter. taken it on the highway and cranked it up to clean out the exhaust. The state used the snap test not the dyno like it has had all the years before. The opacity to meet with the snap test is 40, I failed the first time a 68 then at 54 at the last time I tried I got a 42.6. I have been scratching my a.. trying to figure out what could be wrong. So I had a tech 2 scanner put on again and it still checked out within specs. So winter came and went....... Now.

The state sent me a bad boy letter that they will not renew my registration at the end of April if I don't pass emissions. So I have been reading about Biodiesel and how it can lower soot levels. So I started with B20 and ran it for a couple of weeks, It ran great with it. So now I picked up 30 gallons of B100 and filled up the tank with it. I will take it out tomorrow and run it down the highway then change the fuel filter and then try to pass emissions again.

Anyone ever try the biodiesel to help pass emissions?

Pat

Well it passed but not by much, but it passed 37.4 out of 40 on the opacity so I am good for a while, but I need to figure out what the problem is on this truck.

I was thinking of cutting the soot trap off. When I had a complete engine failure some years ago the exhaust was full of oil. But passed on the dyno test back then.
