How do you replace the SES bulb in a 1996 diesel Suburban?

The SES light is not coming on in our 96 6.5 diesel Suburban.

I was going to let somebody else replace the bulb, but nobody seems interested.

If you put the brown and white wire from the ECM to ground the light does not come on. Key on or Key off.

I was told this was the bulb test.

What bulb does the SES light take? Where can you buy bulbs?

Where can I find instructions for replacing the bulb?

Why are you making me put all this stuff up twice-for the good of those who come after you right?

IIRC the bulb is a 194 .

To replace it you must pull the dash bezel, remove the instrument cluster, turn it over and locate the bulb holder for that light then simply twist the bulb holder to remove it and exchange the bad bulb for the good 1 and reverse the procedure.

Apparently a bp74 is also a bulb choice.

Yep. Not everybody goes to the other sites.

Once again, thank you very much.

40 miles later I have a working bulb
