What is the resister for when you extend the harness for the pmd? How important isit? What size resister should you use? I have a 1995 6.5 td Chevy k1500

The resistor do the same job with extended harness as it do if you have the stock harness. It works with the pmd and gives the engine the right fuel mix,and that is important if you care about the millage for example, in most cases the truck runs really bad without the resistor. There's a number on the resistor (1-9) and it might be 4 or 5 in stock models if i remember right.

The higher the # the more fuel is injected, but it is a miniscule difference-stick with a #5 or #7 for best results.

The resistor is installed in the harness conector cavity of the PMD-make sure you have 1 installed.

Thanks guys this is helpful. I've worked on gas motors for fifty years but this is the first diesel I've owned.
