Default 1995 6.5 Diesel Sputtering and Dying

OK, new member... first thread.

My 1995 3500 w/ 6.5 diesel started coughing/sputtering last week when accelerating. So, I figured fuel filter. No big deal, I keep one behind the seat. So I swapped it out yesterday morning. I drove it another 100 miles and the problem was still there.

In fact, it has gotten worse. Driving home last night it even died at low speed/low idle while turning around in a parking lot. Never did that before!

This morning, it died while accelerating out of my little boys school. I brought it home and it just doesn't want to keep running.

I start it up, runs fine for about 20-30 seconds and then sputters a few times like it's struggling to get fuel and dies. I try to give it a little fuel before it dies and its like there is nothing there.

Anybody have thoughts on this??? this is my primary vehicle. Need help fast! I've only had it since September, so I don't know all of the history of repairs.

Plugged vent in the filler cap?
Plugged sock in the tank?
Hole in the lines between the fuel in the tank and the LiftPump?
Dead LP?
Bad OPS? oil pressure switch
Blown ECMB fuse?

On your truck the OPS supplies power to the LP when the engine runs, aftermarket switches are junk-AC Delco ONLY,also google OPS relay mod.

When cranking the engine over the LP relay powers the LP so you would likely have no problem bleeding the filter with the engine off, gear selector in drive and key in the crank position-as long as your neutral safety switch is working?

There is also a set of screens at the IP fuel inlet that can get plugged.

Since you changed filters I am guessing that you cleaned the filter housing, but with the engine running-open the brass tap on the coolant crossover and drain any water from the filter housing.

If the truck dies when you open that tap(water in fuel drain)you know to diagnose the problem with the LP.
