Beer Test Dummy

I`ve worked on several diesel tractors and such, but this is the first diesel vehicle
I`ve ever owned. A couple of months back I bought a 1998 GMC Savana 3500 Cutaway van. With a Thomas Built 20 pass. bus body on it. Sporting a Detriot 6.5L turbo. Yup, I got the short bus. I`m a Master Plumber, so it`s my latest plummin wagon. Anyway the turbo was`nt acting right so I was advised by a friend to replace it. Well turns out my friend knows more about spending my $ than about turbos Cause the vacumn waste gate actuator soleniod thing isn`t workin. I replaced the vac pump also. Seems I`m pushin bout 7 lbs o boost. All stock. Where do I go from here boss?

7 PSI boost is plenty if you want the head gaskets to last And you will want to do a PMD relocate as soon as possible

Upgrade the exhaust with a 3" downpipe and 4" exhaust system.

Your boost is good-it is also load depandant so the harder you push the loud peddle and the heavier load you pull the more boost will show up to 10-12 PSI.

No load = no boost.
