Default Sealing my egr valve

Ok so Pius Erekley of bell turbo here in Corvallis said I should put a piece of sheet metal over my egr to get better performance what do Yall think . He says it's different for every truck but for my 95 6.5L light duty it would officially bridge the difference to the heavy duty version which is the 1 ton which they don't have egr vavles

Will not make any difference in your case.

The S engine package that you have has an EGR and the ECM is programmed to suit that.

The F engine(what was described to you as heavy duty)does not have an EGR and also has different programming.

In order for you to get the benefit of what is only slightly heavier duty, you need to have your computer chip reprogrammed.

Once that is done the truck will behave just like the F vin trucks and no mod of the EGR will be required.

I would only make the effort to get a better performance aftermarket programming package, there is only about 10hp difference between the S and F trucks in stock form,so not a big enough gain to just have an F truck.

The 6.5 is an economy light duty diesel,it will never measure up to the medium duty engines now available-but it is good for what it was intended as.

Power wise it's comparable to a L05 350 TBI chev gasser.
350/5.7L L05 210HP 300ft/lbs torque
6.5TD Power / Torque (lowest): 180 hp (134 kW) @ 3,400 rpm / 360 lb·ft (488 N·m) @ 1,700 rpm

7.3 powerstroke 275 hp (205 kW) and 520 lb·ft (705 N·m)

24 valve cummins 5.9 305 horsepower (224 kW; 308 PS) and 555 foot-pounds (752 N·m)

6.6 duramax LLY 305 bhp (227 kW) @3000 rpm / 605 lb·ft (820 N·m) @1600 rpm

No,makes no difference that you can actually see.

Economy is all a relationship between load, gear ratio and how hard you push the loud peddle.

You need to get your info elsewhere-like here for example.

EGR is strictly an emmissions tool to reduce oxides of nitrogen.

All this info is on google if you make the effort to look.

Another power comparison is the gm 6.2 is about dead equal to a mid output volkswagon jetta 2.0 turbo diesel-imagine a 4 banger golf having the same power as a CCLB daully or suburban.
the 6.5 is nearly the same engine as the 6.2-add a few cubic inches and a turbo and they are the same exactly.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Google Buddy Six Gun Tune for 6.5TD for the best available ECM tune for 94/95.
Although before that time comes a 97+ stock K-47 round air filter cold air intake is needed along with an aftermarket 3" turbo downpipe and aftermarket 4" exhaust system.

And even before both of those a pre turbo EGT gauge with the probe mounted in the boss found on the passenger side exhaust manifold and a boost gauge setup are required.
