It is mechanically driven but if it has a PMD,optical sensor on top and timing stepper motor on the passenger side of the IP-it is electronically controlled timing by the ECM.

Easiest way to tell if it is electronic IP is to look for a crankshaft position sensor on the drivers side of the timing cover in line with the crankshaft-right behind the power steering pump.

 

Well now my big question wat is the difference in the turbos in the trucks i see gm-4 gm-8 gm-5 turbos wats the difference he told me he changed turbos so i think it has the wrong turbo on it

 

A gm3 has a spring wastegate and the 5 and 8 are almost identical.

They all make the same boost and work the same way and are interchangeable.

You are hard headed for sure aren't ya?
If it's a pickup truck you have to set timing with a scan tool or have the dealer do it for you.
The only way you could have a fully mechanical IP on a 95 is if it were a military humvee or a school bus or if someone did a DB2 conversion:

Yes i do my own work the dumbasses he has had work on it now the turbo has alot of oil going everywhere i think seals bad

I don't see any marks on injector pump but where should the peg be? We got watet pump and timing plate off to make sure that gears in the right spot he told me today that he had a guy put head gaskets in that's never worked on a diesel before

 

Not sure what you mean by "peg"?

There should be a hash mark on the IP near where the mark on the timing cover/IP mount is-might need some cleaning to get at it.

The marks are a rough guide only.

From the video I can tell you that you for sure have an electronic IP that needs the scan tool to set timing-also the timing appears to be quite late,try rotating the IP a mm or 2 towards the drivers side.

 

The pump was all the way to the drivers side

 

The peg on the IP drive flange goes in the slotted hole in the IP drive gear.

 

Yea i looked there's only one spot the peg and bolts can go on so so how do i make the cable i need i found the software for $160
