Default New to me 95 Tahoe 6.5L, help

Hey fellas, new here and to 6.5L, but not new to diesel and not new to working on them.

Got me a 95 Tahoe 6.5L with 270k, for $800.
Truck is rough on the inside, but it will clean up. Some minor rust on the outside on the hood and under back windows, but undercarriage is very clean and rust free.

Got the truck like this.

Turns over slowly, it does not start. Some fuel leakage when key is just turned to Accessory ON, so i guess fuel pump is on? Fuel pump has supposedly been recently replaced with new one. All passenger side glow plugs are missing the connectors (whole glow plug harness on that side of the motor is missing? Or tucked away somewhere....i couldn't find it). Other side has proper harness and all connectors and they are plugged into the glow plugs. My intake manifold has some kind of large rusty mushroom looking vacuum solenoid on top of the back flat part, and no vacuum hose coming off it....most manifolds I see here are completely flat?? S VIN but EGR hole is blocked off with a plate. Also EGR solenoid closest to the firewall has no vacuum line on it either. Wastegate actuator (under the turbo) has no vacuum line on it. I need a good vaccum diagram bad....

I will go thru it tomorrow and compile full diagnostic sheet, but so far I know:

1- No start. Slow cranking
2- 1995, 6.5L turbo
3- 270k mi
4- Will check in the morning....
5- Its a Tahoe? I guess half ton 1500 equivalent?
6- S VIN but EGR is blocked off
7- Clean air filter
8- Fresh fuel
9- Will check in the morning....
10- 70F
11- Its not able to start....
11a- Yes
12- Yes
12a- 12, 12, 12, 12, 12.....no codes
13- Removed, cleaned, tightened
14- Hold charge and will check load holding tomorrow....
14a- No
15- Need wiring diagram to find where all grounds are
15a- No
16- Yes
16a- No

I will get on it in the morning, in the meantime someone hook me up with vaccum diagram for the motor, and wiring diagram of connectors under the hood.

Thanks!

The ground on rear passenger side head is often missed and have seen oil between starter and block cause those symptoms??

Sounds like there have been a few mods done to the truck already.

Could be a OPS relay mod or the LP is wired directly to a keyed 12v source-functional but not very safe.

Fix the fuel leafuel leaks out,air gets in.
Repair the glow plug harness-these engines need all glow plugs all the time, not just cold weather.

Make sure the battery connections are clean and secure and the the crossover cable does combine both batteries.

Might need a starter-if so be sure to put the block strap on the nose.

2 700CCA minimum batteries.

Item 17 is also a big one.

Ok here are few pics

On passenger side head rear there is small connector that goes down to behind last header runner and wire is broken. Large purple and another green wire are broken in the same area.

EGR is blocked off, not sure what this sensor is, and these are 3 plugs that are not connected on drivers side valve cover area....

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Injection pump has red label and 5521 last 4, so its DS4 I think
PMD is pump mounted!!

I am completely missing A/C compressor two-prong connector it seems like

Batteries cant hold much load, put tester on them and quickly dropped to 10V or so when load tester coil heated up

I will try newer matching batteries from my PSD

Look around rear of the passenger side head I found the A/C connection tucked there in my 1994 that I had and Good batteries are everything in a 6.5 And you will want to do a relocate for the PMD once you get it running I think you will have a nice truck there

Got fuel at injectors, full filter and bled, IP bleed off is full with no bubbles. Two marine 950cca *matching set same age* at 12.32v and charger hooked up at 60amps or 250amps - I see immediate voltage drop to 9v during cranking, same speed as before very slow, and load measured at 200amps on the cables.

Gonna make my own battery cables from thick welding cable, and install two new top post batteries along with new high torque starter. Hopefully then it will have enough juice to spin fast enough to start

Fixed passenger side glow plug harness (made my own), tomorrow new high torque starter will come and I will try to get it running. Fixed and cleaned ground lug on the passenger rear of intake manifold. Sandblasted all battery cable ends down to bare copper
