Had a 6-53 in another truck awile back and as you said it screamed you would go thru both transmissons and you might be lucky to do 40Mph and it was wound out as far as it would go This 4-71 is going to be turning a 750+lbs flywheel it had a 308 c.i. IH gas burner doing the job for 60+years about the same HP but the Detroit has almost double the torque from what I can tell

Think you could find one of these 4-71's pretty cheap for me? Doesn't even have to run. I just want something to play with.

How about a two cylinder? That seems more manageable for playing with than a 4 cylinder.

2 cylinders would be much more manageable as this 4-71 weights in at 1740 just the engine Not counting what you bolt onto it Here is a 6V53 in a Chevy truck that kinda coolhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3yohoCqD2E

Well guy's Got that Detroit running today Man that engine had been parked since the early 90s it turned over maybe 2 times and fired right up didnt have any muffler on it sounds like a beast I am thinking of selling the 6.2 out of the CUCV and slapping one of the 2strokers in it So any takers on the 6.2 let me know

Getting close to running soon All bolted down waiting on a new fuel filter housing as the one that is on there is obsolete now but I have the fuel lines ran just have to be hooked up to the engine
