Default 6.2 diesel revs up and down then loss of power and dies

Ok guys i'm kinda new to owning a diesel and it has just started to act funny the last few days it will rev up and down loose power and die. Then when you fire it back up does the same thing, but it will mellow out and have power but then go back to reving up and back down. Please help me I like it and don't want to get rid of it.

Sounds like the fuel system is sucking air, could also be a dirty fuel filter adding to the problem?

Welcome to DB and all that crap anyways Yeah I think Racer has hit the nail on the head Run clear fuel hose to the IP best place to get it at I have found is at small engine shops the line I have in the picture is what we run on chain saws here But if you take care of the truck you will learn to love mechanical IP verses the electronic IP when it comes to a 6.2/6.5

Give any 6.2/6.5 plenty of warm up time in the cooler part of the year I personaly belive in 15-20minutes at a min Never use starting fluid on these engines if you feel the need Use WD40 or my personal favorite non stick cooking spray you can pick these up for dirt cheap at a local grocier Another thing to do is start running 2stroke oil with your fuel a half to 1 ounce per gallon is a good ratio as the Diesel they sell now a days is ULSD and our IPs need the extra lubricicity to extend pump life
