Question 6.5 L intermittent dying. At wits end!

Hey all! First post and have a problem. I have a 96 Chevy K2500 4x4 6.5L. It is having issues with intermittent dying. Some days it will run just fine, others it will die on me when stopped at lights. If I keep it revved up some it does ok. I replaced the PCM last summer as it was dying and wouldn't start when it had warmed up. That solved that. I have replaced the fuel filter. I know the injector pump was replaced before I got it. I have had it about 4 years now. I also sometimes get "service throttle" light but not real often. It has been parked as I am afraid it will die and not start back up in traffic. Any help? I really want my truck back! Thanks!

If you didnt relocate the PMD when you changed it last time it might be bad again. From what Ive read here the heat gets to them pretty quick.

Man, I must have been half asleep when I posted this. Sorry! I took it to the parts store where I know a couple of the guys to have them scan it. Hooked the scanner up and it shut the scanner off...twice. They told me it was probably the computer. So I ordered a new one and then took it to the local Chevy dealership to have it flashed. After 2 hours he came back out and told me that the new computer wouldn't flash to my truck. They wanted to trace the wires. But I wasn't going to sit there and pay $150 an hour for them to do that. Went back to the parts store and they told me that this dealer has done this to them before. That they just want me to buy their more expensive computer. I returned it for a refund and parked it. Haven't had the money to mess with it. I don't think it is the injection pump as I was told that more than likely wouldn't kick the scanner off. Could it be the computer? Do I need to have the wires traced (by my normal mechanic and at a cheaper price)?

Anyone else have anything? Hate seeing my truck sit in the driveway.

Check the grounds at the back of the intake on the coolant block off plate stud-there should be 3 ground wires there with clean secure connections,IIRC 2 of those wires might be on only 1 ring terminal.

I just had the same issue last week and it ended up being my In line fuel pump located under driver side door in the frame.from what I understand if you open your bleeder on your air filter at idol you should get overflow and that's the test for the pump... My truck ran out of fuel when I did this test... Worth a shot?

I will check into both of these, thanks! Does anyone think it could be the computer? Any reason that you know of that would kick the scan tool off and still be causing this issue? Hope it is something simple like what has been mentioned, will keep this thread posted. Thanks!

In line fuel pump is not the issue. It did not die. Drove it to the store today and back home and it ran fine. It doesn't always die so I just take it one trip at a time.
